Mechanical Engineer
Based In Mulgrave
As a Mechanical Engineer Based in Mulgrave you will deliver a suite of services including, but not limited to; providing technical services for the assessment of complex components and high temperature pressure equipment, stress analysis and testing, fatigue and creep life assessments, defect tolerance assessments, structural engineering assessments, engineering audits, pressure vessel design verifications, piping inspections as well as developing inspection and repair procedures as required. The successful applicant will liaise with clients, work independently or as part of a project team to deliver onsite services, prepare and present reports as required and work within specified codes and compliance standards.
Selection Criteria:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering acceptable to the Institute of Engineers Australia
- Experience working in a consulting role will be viewed highly
- Good understanding of strain gauging, stress analysis, fatigue, creep and remaining life assessment
- Familiarity with pressure vessel codes, piping codes and structural codes.
- Finite element analysis software, ANSYS code preferred and Caesar Piping Flexibility Software.
- Knowledge of records maintenance processes as well as report preparation
- Ability to share knowledge and work as part of a team
- A sound knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of packages, MATLAB, Labview and visual basic preferred
- A current Victorian Driver's License
- Applicants with knowledge of or experience working in the mining, power, oil and gas or engineering consulting environments will be viewed highly
Combustion Engineer
Based In Cooper Plains, QLD
We are seeking an experienced Combustion Engineer, based in the HRL Technology Group's office in Coopers Plains Queensland, to work within our Plant Performance Team. The successful candidate will deliver technical consulting, testing, maintenance and optimisation services supporting large coal fired boilers including mills and burners. They will work across a range of industries and sectors including power, manufacturing, chemical processing, alternative fuels, waste and resources sectors. Applicants must be willing to travel for periods of 4-6 weeks nationally and internationally.
Selection Criteria:
- An Engineering degree acceptable to the Institute of Engineers Australia
- Knowledge of performance testing methodologies and equipment
- Demonstrated experience in providing consulting services (includes sales capability) to the power industry will be viewed highly
- Knowledge of, and established networks within, the food, manufacturing, chemicals processing and the resource sector, including the use of alternative fuels such as biomass and refuse derive fuels or other wastes will be highly valued.
- Strong communication skills along with the ability to communicate at all levels of an organisation.
- Experience working overseas and established networks - in SE Asia- will be particularly valued
- Demonstrated understanding of working cross culturally
- Experience and knowledge of records maintenance and report preparation
- Ability to share knowledge and work as part of a team

Plant Performance Testing Engineer
Based In Cooper Plains, QLD
As a recent graduate Plant and Performance Testing Engineer, who has some hands on professional experience, the successful applicant will report to HRL's senior Combustion Engineer in Queensland and assist in performance testing work and the provision of technical consultancy services to a range of industries including power generation, food and chemicals sectors. They will provide hands on services and support including maintaining and preparing equipment for testing as well as set-up of testing equipment and subsequent testing on-site. They will work both nationally and internationally as part of a team, deliver on site services to optimise plant performance and reliability, complete testing and maintenance work, produce process modelling and provide input into client reporting.
Selection Criteria:
- An Engineering degree acceptable to the Institute of Engineers Australia
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with process modelling will be highly regarded (including using modelling programs such as Aspen, Thermoflex and Fluent
- Ability to work as part of a team
- A sound knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of packages
- Ability and willingness to travel for period of 4-6 weeks
- A current drivers licence
