As part of the need for comprehensive environmental assessment and management, our client engaged HRL to undertake a significant project involving the analysis of soil samples. The primary objective was to provide a detailed understanding of the particle size distribution within the soil samples, enabling crucial insights into their composition and characteristics.
Particle Size Analysis Assists Environmental Assessment
HRL assists client with particle size distribution analysis of numerous soil samples
Challenge
Solution
The methodology employed by HRL for the particle size distribution analysis of the soil samples, was meticulously designed to ensure accurate and comprehensive results. The samples were wet sieved to facilitate fraction separation followed by same day laser particle size analysis of the bottom fraction. Combination of the data sets allowed for the visualisation of fractions corresponding to specific minerals within the soil samples.
The utilisation of advanced techniques, such as laser diffraction, enabled HRL to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the particle size distribution, encompassing a wide range of sizes and fractions within the soil samples. This approach not only provided detailed insights into the composition of the samples, but also facilitated the visualization of the distribution of various mineral fractions essential for environmental assessment and management.
Results
By employing sophisticated methodologies and state-of-the-art equipment, HRL was able to provide valuable insights into the composition and characteristics of the soil samples for our client. The comprehensive particle size distribution analysis conducted by HRL assisted our client to make informed decisions in environmental planning and management.
